This kit enables students to study the reaction of two bacteria to different concentrations of the same antibiotic and to two different antibiotics.

Please Note - Our Antibiotic Sensitivity Testing Kit is only suitable for use in education.

The kit contains:

  • Cultures of Escherichia Coli (E-Coli) and Staphylococcus albus (S. albus)
  • 10 vials of nutrient agar
  • 2 vials of nutrient broth
  • 20 petri dishes
  • 10 antibiotic discs Penicillin 1.5IU
  • 10 antibiotic discs Penicillin 5IU
  • 10 antibiotic discs Streptomycin 25µg
  • Full instructions

Sufficient materials are provided for 10 students/student groups.

The following additional materials or equipment are required:

  • Incubator (B8A64397)
  • Autoclave (B8L75814)
  • Autoclave Bags (PP00053865)
  • Inoculating Loops (B8A64579)
  • Bunsen Burner (B8A57241 - Natural Gas, B8A57253 - Bottled Gas)
  • Sterile Pipette or Syringe (B8B93215)
  • Forceps (B8R00174)
  • Ethanol (B8R07143)
  • Sellotape (F4R07484)
  • Aseptic handling technique should always be observed when handling bacterial cultures.
  • Our living bacterial cultures are carefully selected for teaching purposes, and as such, most are classified as Hazard Group 1 - unlikely to cause human disease.
  • Bacterial cultures should be regularly subcultured to maintain their health.
  • Cultures should always be inspected for contamination before use.
  • Any cultures stored in the fridge should be given time to return to room temperature before use.
